Digital transformation in healthcare takes centre stage at largest health tech event at Royal Dutch Jaarbeurs
Utrecht, 13 March 2023 - Digitisation in healthcare offers opportunities to better serve patients. We are only at the beginning of what can be done. This is emphasised by Margriet Schneider, chairman of the board of directors of UMC Utrecht, at the opening of the largest health tech event in the Netherlands: Zorg & ICT. Margriet Schneider: "Digital healthcare offers us endless opportunities to add even more value to patients' lives. Close to home if possible, with the feeling that good care is always accessible and available." Margriet Schneider and other top speakers such as Diederik Gommers, Marcel Levi, David Jongen, Helen Mertens and Pieter Jeekel will share their views on the latest technologies and innovations for healthcare during the health tech event. Zorg & ICT will take place from Tuesday 13 to Thursday 15 June at Royal Jaarbeurs.
Chatbot offers opportunities, but cannot yet take over consultation hours
During Zorg & ICT, 200 exhibitors will share their innovations in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), data availability, cybersecurity, health internet of things (IoT), virtual care and remote care. Around the main theme 'In charge of the future', several top speakers will talk about the opportunities of digitalisation in healthcare. Marcel Levi: "Take the hype around ChatGPT. The chatbot offers opportunities, but it cannot yet take over a consultation hour." Diederik Gommers, head of Intensive Care at Erasmus MC, also takes the stage: "It is high time to move from talking to applying," Gommers argues. He talks about how we can help each other apply technical innovations and AI models to the workplace. And that while maintaining the human touch. Besides the opportunities, the threats of digitalisation are also discussed. For instance, RTL News journalist Daniël Verlaan discusses how criminal hackers operate during Zorg & ICT.
Taking visitors on a future expedition in healthcare with AI
In the so-called Health Tech Academy at the event, the Dutch AI Coalition brings together supply and demand in the field of AI. Chairman Pieter Jeekel: "Only when healthcare organisations know exactly where the problems are, can AI solutions really be meaningful." Vilans, knowledge organisation for care and support, takes visitors on a future expedition. And Z-CERT, the expertise centre for cybersecurity in healthcare, offers a multi-day programme on cybersecurity. Promising start-ups will find a place in the Health Tech Lab. There, visitors will see how AI, robots and sensors will make healthcare future-proof.
