Organising a seminar: useful tips

A seminar is a great way to share knowledge. To bring people together. To exchange ideas and bring about change. Want to organise a successful seminar? Then keep these 5 tips for organising a seminar.

What is the purpose of the seminar? Are you going to share knowledge? Give a stage to experts? Or would you rather the target group itself mainly network and exchange information with each other? Writing down the purpose of the seminar will help you make better choices during the organisation process.

Do you know where participants come from? Then sometimes the location is decisive. So choose a central event location that is easy to reach. Jaarbeurs, for example, is next to the railway station and we have more than 3,000 parking spaces. So you can come by public transport or by car. Moreover, there are many hotels in the area, so also perfect for guests who need an overnight stay.

Nobody is made to listen for a whole day, even if the topic is so interesting. Therefore, make sure you create a varied and interactive programme. With inspiring keynotes, interactive sessions, workshops or panel discussions, for example. Also make sure there is enough time for networking. This is often where the best collaborations come about.

Love goes through the stomach. The experience and perception of a seminar is not just about the programme. Tasty food also has a big part in this. And you can do more with food than you think. Let it, for instance, connect to the topic of the seminar or the theme of the day.

During a seminar, you don't want technical problems. Yet it happens more often than you think. A screen that does not work, a microphone that is off or a lamp that flickers. So have a good look in advance at what you need and test everything thoroughly. At Jaarbeurs we arrange all this for you. Moreover, our rooms are plug & play: just plug in and you are ready to start.
