Organising a press conference: useful tips

Are you going to organise a press conference? Then you have important news to share with the outside world. How you get the message across is essential for the attention it will later receive from the press. We give you some important tips for organising a press conference.

The location of the event venue is an essential component. Is it easily accessible by public transport, car or other means of transport?

Your message is the most important thing during the press conference. Choose a space where all attention is on the subject.

Make someone responsible as moderator. The person will lead the press conference, introduce the speakers and announce the Q&A session, among other things.

You want everyone (including at the back of the room) to be able to hear and see you properly. So think about good microphones, amplifiers and screens. At Jaarbeurs we arrange that for you, by the way.

There are different types of set-ups suitable at a press conference. For example, a theatre setup, u-shape setup or panel setup.

Whether speakers stand or sit depends on the purpose of the press conference. Speakers standing often exude more authority and energy. Seated speakers, in turn, give a more equal atmosphere.

Create and distribute a press kit with background information and contact details. Prefer the sustainable version? Make the folder digital and display a QR code on a screen.
