Organising an award ceremony: here's how to make it a success

With these tips, it will be an event to remember.

Receiving an award is special. It says something about that person's achievements. If it is a prestigious award, choose a luxurious setting (such as our Beatrix Theatre). Are you organising an award ceremony with an innovative theme? Then a futuristic hall in an innovative congress centre (think Media Plaza or Supernova) is ideal. The right event location enhances the experience.

An award ceremony is all about people. It is therefore extra important that every detail is right. For example, you don't want the ceremony to be delayed because the booked speaker talks longer than expected. You can record all this with a script. You also put all the important telephone numbers and people responsible in it. In addition, make sure you have the script within easy reach (physically or digitally). That way you can be sure there will be no surprises.

Light, sound and visuals make or break your event. Imagine if the presenter's microphone cuts out so no one can hear who wins? That would be a shame! So use professional technology to reduce the chance of mistakes. At Jaarbeurs, by the way, we arrange all that for you. Our technicians are familiar with all your wishes and make sure everything is usable (and tested).

An award or prize ceremony is a celebration. That naturally needs some entertainment. Book an interesting speaker, for example. Or celebrate the award ceremony with live music. Entertainment makes it extra festive for the winner and eases the pain for the loser.
