Utrecht, 22 October 2024 - Royal Jaarbeurs, organiser of the Logistica Next and ICT&Logistics trade shows, is proud to announce that the Netherlands' first 100 per cent circular exhibition stand will be presented on its exhibition floor. The stand of exhibitor Sweco, architectural and engineering consultancy, of which DENC and Van Looy Group are part, is building its circular stand in cooperation with stand construction company Tausch. In addition, almost 20 per cent of all exhibitors at Logistica Next are taking advantage of the sustainable participation packages offered by Jaarbeurs. Corien den Ouden, exhibition manager: "This milestone marks an important step in our ongoing efforts to make our exhibitions and trade shows more sustainable." Logistica Next and ICT&Logistics will take place from 5 to 7 November 2024 at Royal Jaarbeurs.

Full reuse: paragon of sustainability and innovation
The circular exhibition stand, developed by Sweco, is a paragon of sustainability and innovation. The design uses reusable and recyclable materials, significantly reducing the ecological footprint. For example, the stand is fully detachable, without glue and Sweco has used natural materials without finishing. Christiaan Bos, Consultant Logistics & Production at DENC, part of Sweco: "I think it's great that we have this circular exhibition stand, matching Sweco's sustainable ambitions. After many exhibitions, too much often goes into the container. The Sweco design team managed to make the stand one hundred per cent circular and I am super proud of that! In June, we used the stand for the first time at another trade fair. The advantage of this reusable stand is that we have a clean design in one go and invest more in beautiful, professional furniture such as the bar furniture and the cabinet walls. Now we can pay full attention to our content-based trade fair programme. We hope this initiative will also inspire other exhibitors on the show floor to make sustainable choices."

Sustainable participation packages with circular materials
Since last autumn, Jaarbeurs has offered its exhibitors the opportunity to build their exhibition stands with sustainable and circular materials. Corien den Ouden: "Stand builders and exhibitors are increasingly concerned with the 'footprint' of their trade fair participation. We notice this plenty in the logistics sector. We notice that people find it increasingly important that exhibition stands are made of reusable materials. This thought fits perfectly with our ambition to become the most sustainable organiser and facilitator of exhibitions and events in Europe. This is the reason for us to offer exhibitors sustainable choices in furnishing their stands." In addition, Jaarbeurs is also dealing with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) that highlights the growing need for transparency about companies' sustainability efforts. From 2025, this European legislation requires reporting on environmental impact, social responsibility and sustainable policies, among others. "Adhering to CSRD standards not only fulfils a legal obligation, but it is also a strategic move for companies to further propagate their sustainable policies and reduce their carbon emissions," argues Corien den Ouden.

Focus in exhibition programme on sustainable logistics
Sustainability in the logistics sector is in full focus at the Logistica Next and ICT&Logistics trade fairs. For example, Volvo Truck Nederland will discuss the role of logistics service providers in the energy transition, BLMC will present a platform giving companies insights into how they can meet their sustainability requirements, and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management will give an introduction to making heavy truck transport more sustainable. Corien den Ouden: "These promise to be inspiring trade shows in which we fully address the challenges of today and the future."
