Utrecht, 17 December 2024 - On Wednesday 8 January 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs Caspar Veldkamp and Mayor of Utrecht Sharon Dijksma will open the 54th edition of Vakantiebeurs. The opening will take place in the presence of over a hundred international ambassadors and relations from the travel industry. Together, they will kick off Vakantiebeurs 2025 and the new tourism season. Vakantiebeurs, organised by Royal Jaarbeurs, will take place from Wednesday 8 January to Sunday 12 January 2025 and will be open to the public from Thursday. On Wednesday 8 January and Thursday 9 January, the travel industry will come together for the Travel Trade Days. These days are full of knowledge sharing, buying and networking opportunities.
One hundred international ambassadors as guests during Vakantiebeurs
In the run-up to the Vakantiebeurs, more than a hundred international ambassadors come together to share knowledge about trends and developments within the travel industry. Marleen Rompen, exhibition manager: "We are incredibly proud to have all ambassadors at the table at one time each year. Led by renowned trend watcher Lieke Lamb, this has been a huge success for years, with the insights and collaborations becoming increasingly relevant."
Covenant signed: 'Less ad hoc work in crisis situations'
During the 54th edition of Vakantiebeurs, the Algemene Nederlandse Vereniging van Reisondernemingen (ANVR), Stichting Garantiefonds Reisgelden (SGR), the Dutch Association of Insurers and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs signed a covenant for more structural special assistance for Dutch travellers abroad. The aim is to provide assistance to Dutch travellers abroad in times of crisis. Foreign Affairs Minister Caspar Veldkamp: "We encourage Dutch people to prepare well for their trip with the help of our travel advice. Nevertheless, special crisis situations may arise in which Dutch nationals need help to get home. We want to make more structural agreements on what we can do together at such times. This has resulted in a covenant, the contents of which we will sign on 8 January next."
Vakantiebeurs kicks off new tourist season
With destinations from all over the world, from culinary to family holidays: the upcoming Vakantiebeurs is all about holiday planning. A wide range of travel companies, hotels and holiday destinations will inspire visitors to take a trip this year. With activities such as the food tour, a Ferris wheel, an African Jungle adventure as well as culinary cooking workshops, the holiday experience is complete. Exhibitor Vereniging van Kleinschalige Reisorganisaties (VvKR) is looking forward to the fair: "Vakantiebeurs offers small-scale travel organisations a unique opportunity to make direct contact with travellers looking for personal, authentic and sustainable travel experiences. For us, this is the place to showcase what small-scale travel is all about: customisation, commitment and travelling with impact. It is inspiring to see that more and more visitors are choosing to travel away from the masses, and that we as an association can connect them with our passionate members who make these special experiences possible." The organisers of the USA Pavilion are also looking forward to Vakantiebeurs. "By organising the USA Pavilion at the Vakantiebeurs, Target Travel Marketing offers participants a unique opportunity. They can promote the destination, establish collaborations within the travel industry and get in direct contact with travellers. To this end, the USA Pavilion offers a beautiful, uniform appearance that emphasises the versatility of the USA. Thus, participants can position themselves strongly and visitors get an inspiring experience for a dream trip to the USA."
Vakantiebeurs will take place from Wednesday 8 January to Sunday 12 January 2025. The Vakantiebeurs will be open to the public from Thursday 9 to Sunday 12 January 2025.
