Utrecht, 15 September 2025 - Last week, the 17th edition of VIV Select China, the annual international trade fair for the poultry and livestock sector, was held in Nanjing. During the event, Royal Jaarbeurs announced that the fair will be organised in Shanghai from 2026. By choosing this economic hotspot, Jaarbeurs aims to strengthen its international position and better connect the sector worldwide. Besides the Netherlands and China, VIV will also be organised in Abu Dhabi, Thailand, Rwanda, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Turkey and the Philippines, among others. The next edition of VIV Select China is scheduled from 19 to 21 August 2026 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Centre.
Strategic move to Shanghai for growth and connection
With 500 exhibitors and over 30,000 m² of exhibition floor, last week's edition in Nanjing attracted 17,000 visitors from 108 countries. By moving to Shanghai, the fair expands and strengthens its global reach. Jeroen van Hooff, CEO Royal Jaarbeurs: "The move of VIV Select China to Shanghai is a logical step for us. Within the VIV platform, we consciously choose cities that act as gateways to their region: Bangkok for Asia, Abu Dhabi for the Middle East, New Delhi for India and Utrecht for Europe. Shanghai now occupies that spot on our world map. The city is not only a global business hub, but also a meeting place where international and Chinese markets meet daily. By moving the fair here, we offer our partners and exhibitors the best stage to meet, exchange ideas and grow together. It's all about creating the right environment for international cooperation and Shanghai provides that."
