Utrecht, 14 February 2023 - The organisers of BouwBeurs 2023 look back on a successful edition with very satisfied reactions from both visitors and exhibitors. Everyone from the construction world comes to this and it does a lot with your name recognition and product awareness."
BouwBeurs 2023 attracted over 67,000 visitors last week. Construction professionals travelled to Royal Jaarbeurs to visit the more than 650 exhibitors spread across six exhibition halls. With the theme 'Building the future together', the trade fair was all about circularity, industrialisation and digitalisation. Joyce van de Hoef, exhibition manager: "We look back on a fantastic week full of great innovations, good talks and new initiatives such as the very first Transition Dinner, the BouwBeurs Awards and the Ladies Lunch. In addition, Jaarbeurs launched the Construction and Installation Hub with the results of the new monitor on what is going on in the construction and installation sector."
Joyce van de Hoef: "The moment the BouwBeurs opened, the terrible earthquake happened in Turkey and Syria. To support the victims and help them build a future again, we asked exhibitors and visitors to take action and support Giro555. Within the Jaarbeurs complex, this was possible at several, clearly marked, locations."
Royal Jaarbeurs launches online platform Building and Installation Hub with new monitor
To strengthen cooperation within the construction and installation sector and accelerate sustainable growth, Jaarbeurs launched the Construction and Installation Hub during BouwBeurs 2023. Joyce van de Hoef: "We are the hub of the construction and installation sector and host many guest events for this sector. In recent years, we see that under the influence of sustainability and energy transition, construction and technology are increasingly growing in each other's direction and becoming connected. Buildings are becoming more complex and technical, which calls for more cooperation at an earlier stage. We are proud of the new online platform aimed at decision-makers and influencers within both sectors; a place where sharing knowledge, connecting and meeting each other is central, 365 days a year."
Two in five installers involved too late in construction process
The online platform recently featured the first Construction and Installation Monitor. A survey of almost 3,000 respondents for their opinions on pressing issues in the construction and installation market. For example, three quarters of respondents said they suffer from staff shortages. This does not benefit quality in construction. Joyce van de Hoef: "The main comments are the lack of professional knowledge on the building site, too little influx of young colleagues and communication problems with foreign workers. The monitor also shows that two in five installers are late to the table in the construction process. High-quality and sustainable construction requires good interplay between all disciplines. So it is important that installers are at the table in time in the construction process."
'Circular building' plays more of a role in design & consultancy than in construction and installation
BouwBeurs 2023 was all about circularity, industrialisation and digitalisation. By 2050, the government wants all construction to be circular. The Monitor shows that more than half of the respondents are currently working on projects around circular construction. Van de Hoef: "This does apply more in the design & consultancy sector than in the construction and installation sector itself. The suppliers who have to supply the circular materials are also working on it quite a bit."
