Jaarbeurs is a proud and committed resident of Utrecht. The city and region of Utrecht have the fine ambition of creating a healthier and sustainable world. And we are working towards that. We use our knowledge, space and resources to help others. We do so, for instance, by raising money for various projects in, among others, our region. Projects that contribute to health, equality and connection in our society. And projects that contribute to a better environment. Because: everyone deserves a place in our society. People, animals and nature.
Princess Máxima Centre
Jaarbeurs is a partner of the Princess Máxima Centre: a hospital and research centre where paediatric oncology care and research come together. All children with cancer in the Netherlands are treated here. We are committed to the Princess Máxima Centre in various ways. For example, by encouraging visitors to hand in their returnable bottles and cans at special collection machines. It is also possible to make a donation when buying a ticket. And we organise special (tailor-made) actions during events. Of course, we make knowledge and resources available when the Máxima organises an event at Jaarbeurs.
Helen Dowling Institute
Besides physical effects, many patients with cancer, also experience mental symptoms. For example, feelings of anxiety, extreme fatigue or depressive thoughts. The Helen Dowling Institute provides professional psychological care and conducts research to continuously improve it. Jaarbeurs is a partner of the Helen Dowling Institute. We are committed to raising money in various ways. For example, the benefit gala took place at Jaarbeurs and we made auction items available. Employees also ran the Singelloop to raise money for this great cause.
Trees For All
We need to treat the world with care. We are convinced of that at Jaarbeurs. At the same time, our planet urgently needs more forest. For a better climate, more biodiversity and healthy conditions. That is why we have entered into a partnership with Trees For All. For every conference, event, fair or meeting at Jaarbeurs, we plant a tree through Trees For All. Moreover, we encourage exhibitors and organisers to donate a tree themselves.
JINC
Opportunity inequality deserves no place in our society. That is why JINC is committed to helping young people from neighbourhoods with socio-economic disadvantages through various projects. For example, with extra lessons and guidance or day trips to special places to broaden the horizons of these young people. Jaarbeurs is a partner of JINC. JINC offers 9 projects for children aged eight to 16. Jaarbeurs is committed to 2 of these projects: JINC Boss of Tomorrow and the JINC Lightning Internship.
Academy Spelderholt
Everyone belongs. Regardless of whether you have a disability or not. That is why we work together with Academie Spelderholt: a place where young people with disabilities learn, live and work. During a four-year development programme, young people here work on their independence and self-confidence. A number of students with disabilities regularly join our catering team at conferences. They are true experts in the hospitality industry and manage to put a smile on the faces of conference participants every time.
Enactus
Developing young people into enterprising and responsible leaders is what Enactus stands for. Every year, Enactus organises its national exhibition in Jaarbeurs. There, student teams present their impactful projects. But the cooperation of Enactus and Jaarbeurs goes further than that. Employees of Jaarbeurs have been appointed business coaches for these students. This gives our employees the opportunity to share their knowledge and experience and contribute to the development of the next generation of leaders. In 2023, Jaarbeurs even hosted the Enactus World Cup for which student teams from all over the world came together.
