Sustainable stand construction at Jaarbeurs

Find out all about our circular and modular stands

What is a modular stand?

A modular stand is a reusable, sustainable and flexible stand construction system that consists of separate elements that can be used multiple times, easily assembled and dismantled and adapted to the exhibitor's needs each time. This allows you to prepare for the fair without sawing, gluing and demolition.

This approach reduces waste and lowers environmental impact, while maintaining quality and professional appearance.

What do our stands consist of?

1. Modular frames

The stand consists of a modular system. This makes the stand easy to assemble and disassemble. The Aluvision frames are made of 75% recycled material. The frames are fully recyclable without loss of quality, have modular options for expansion and are quick and easy to rebuild.

2. Personalisation on printed canvases

To customise the walls, we use non-translucent cloths with a tendon edge that are clicked directly into the frames. This requires no additional materials. These cloths are PVC-free, made of polyester and lighter in weight.

3. Stylish and circular furniture: Felt High & Low by VEPA

The stands will be furnished with sustainable, stylish furniture from Vepa, including the Felt High stools and Felt Fine chairs. These stylish chairs and stools are made of PET felt.

The chairs and stools are circularly designed, using reused PET material as a basis. The Felt Fine chairs are made from 68 PET bottles and the bar stools consist of 20 PET bottles.

The tables in the standard stand package are made from residual wood, produced by social manufacturing company Werkpro.

4. REWIND carpet

Lightweight, hard-wearing and durable. REWIND carpet is the world's first Cradle to Cradle Certified® Silver needlefelt exhibition carpet. This certificate internationally recognises the high sustainability value of Rewind®: circularly designed using responsible raw materials and energy-efficient production. What it means:

  • Made of 100% recyclable monopolypropylene
  • Free of water, latex and chemicals during production
  • Up to 85% more energy-efficient than traditional needle-felt carpet
  • Designed for a closed recycling process

Why does Jaarbeurs choose this?

Jaarbeurs is hereby taking an important step in accelerating the sustainable transition of the events industry. By making circular stand construction the standard:

  • Dramatically reduce waste
  • Reduce CO₂ emissions in the chain
  • Gives every exhibitor the option of a sustainable and high-quality stand

By choosing modular stand construction and circular furniture, we are making a significantly more sustainable choice. This reduces the CO₂ emissions of a stand by around 47 kg CO₂.* This means a reduction of over 66% compared to traditional carpet and standard furniture.

*In this calculation, we assume a basic package. The basic package consists of 2 Felt Low chairs and 9 m² REWIND carpet compared to traditional materials.

The new standard from 2026

From 1 January 2026, Royal Jaarbeurs will introduce fully circular stand construction at its own trade fairs. With this, the traditional stand will disappear and circular, modular stand construction will become the new standard. This means exhibitors can always opt for a stand designed for reuse, lower environmental impact and maximum quality.
